Since 2014, Katy has been producing a Chardonnay from this iconic vineyard that lies just east of the town of Occidental.
For more than a decade, I have been devoted to showcasing small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay exclusively from a particular sliver of the Sonoma Coast that lies 7-10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and is heavily influenced by the coastal marine weather. Known for its cool conditions and windy roads leading to remote coastal vineyards, the Sonoma Coast offers the perfect canvas for crafting the style of wines that I have always gravitated towards: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that is complex and vibrant with elegant acidity; wines that drink well when young, but also age gracefully; wines that effortlessly showcase their site and vintage conditions. Each site has a special fingerprint that I try to capture and express.

LaRue has been honored to be one of the select few wineries to work with this amazing, coastal vineyard over the years.
As one of Katy’s inaugural vineyard partners for LaRue, this vineyard has become like home.
Katy teamed up with Ted Klopp and Lauren Klopp Williams in the planting of this coastal, Chardonnay vineyard.
Owned by Russell Rice and Helene Spivak, we have been working with this vineyard since LaRue was founded in 2009.
In 2014, we produced our first Pinot Noir from this exceptional, sought-after vineyard.
