Charles Heintz Vineyard

Charles Heintz Vineyard

Since 1912, the Heintz family has owned and operated this beautiful site just east of the town of Occidental. Charles Heintz Vineyard is a highly sought-after vineyard for premium wine producers for its quintessential expression of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. The coastal influence expressed at this vineyard gives the wine a great acid backbone with a rich palate and a touch of minerality.

When Katy started LaRue in 2009, she always knew that she wanted to add Chardonnay to her portfolio, but not until the time was right. She was particularly fond of wines produced from Charles Heintz Vineyard and always considered that site to be one of the crown jewels of the Sonoma Coast. When presented with the incredible opportunity to work with veteran farmer Charlie Heintz and his family’s iconic vineyard, Katy knew that the moment she had been waiting for had finally arrived. In 2014, she bottled the first ever LaRue Chardonnay from none other than Charles Heintz Vineyard, and has been producing wine from there ever since. Katy has known and worked closely with this vineyard for years, and in 2021 had the opportunity to source premium Pinot Noir expanding the LaRue portfolio.
