For more than a decade, LaRue Wines’ Proprietor & Winemaker Katy Wilson has been devoted to showcasing small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced exclusively from some of the top vineyard sites on the Sonoma Coast. The name, LaRue, pays tribute to the bold and independent woman who inspired Katy’s entrepreneurial spirit: her great grandmother, Veona LaRue Newell.
In 2020, Katy’s husband, David Meneses officially joined the LaRue team as Proprietor & Sales. A veteran of the hospitality and wine industry, David is a certified sommelier and has served as wine director for several prestigious restaurants in Miami and San Francisco. David has been an integral addition to the family business.
Guided by a steadfast, non-interventionist winemaking philosophy that champions the land, Katy leaned into her passions with the debut of LaRue Wines in 2009. In 2021, Katy and David collaborated on a new line of wines under their new label, Charlie LaRue, that honors David’s passion for cellar-worthy Bordeaux wines representative of the truest expression of variety, vineyard, and vintage that improve with age. Together, they continue to personally craft each bottle of LaRue & Charlie LaRue from grape to glass, thriving today as an ultra-premium, 500-case brand.
