Chardonnay, Charles Heintz Vineyard

2022 – 93+ points

From vines planted in 1982, the 2022 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard was matured for 17 months in one once-used French oak barrel. It requires some coaxing to reveal aromas of apricot, peach, beeswax, flint and spice. The medium-bodied palate pairs expansive, mouth-coating flavors with vibrant acidity, and it has a long, layered finish. It will be long lived in the cellar. The 2021 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard, matured for 17 months in once-used French oak, has intense aromas of yellow apples, quince peel, clover honey, bread dough and acacia. Chardonnay, H. Klopp Vineyard

“The 2021 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard, matured in 25% new French oak for 17 months, has pure scents of yellow apples and lemon with accents of pie crust, allspice and hazelnut. The light-bodied palate is surprisingly concentrated, offering layers of nutty, creamy fruit. It has a bright spine of acidity balanced by a touch of textural grip and a long finish. 2019 – 93 points

“The 2019 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard is the third harvest from these Wente and Mt Eden clone vines. Matured 17 months in 25% new oak, it has pretty aromas of crème fraîche, lemon peel and graphite with a slowly emerging honeysuckle and beeswax character. The light-bodied palate offers an appealing, waxy texture foiled by tangy acidity. It has pure, concentrated lemon drop flavors, with a saline character lingering on the extended finish. It offers alluring complexity now, yet it will continue to blossom in bottle over the next 5+ years.” — Erin Brooks


Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

2022 – 93 points

“The 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from the Thorn Ridge (62%) and Rice-Spivak (38%) vineyards, and fruit was harvested both before and after the Labor Day heat wave. It has open-knit aromas of cranberry and briar fruit, woodsmoke, tea leaves and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is layered and nuanced. It’s structured by dusty tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, spicy finish. It unfurls dramatically with air and will benefit from some time in a decanter.” — Erin Brooks, August 2025

“The 2016 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a blend of fruit from the Rice-Spivak and Thorn Ridge vineyards aged in about 25% new oak. Medium ruby-purple colored, it has a classic nose of red and black berries, cranberry sauce, rhubarb, woodsmoke and black tea leaves with notes of dried flowers and underbrush. Sauvignon Blanc, Pigasus Vineyard

“The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Pigasus Vineyard comes from grapes harvested on October 12th. It was barrel-fermented and matured for 11 months in 33% new French oak. It has inviting aromas of white peach, green guava, lemongrass, tarragon and spice. The medium-bodied palate offers concentrated, spicy flavors delivered in a gently rounded texture.
